A baby on the way is a reason to celebrate—even if you can’t gather together in person. As a remote member of the Solly Team (I am on the east coast—everyone else is on the west!), I had a chance to be the guest of honor at the perfect virtual baby shower last summer, right before my second baby was born. While I can’t take credit for the sweet details the team put into making me feel extra special, I can pass them on to you. Virtual baby showers may be essential now more than ever, but they’re a super fun option anytime (and, I should mention, the ideal shower for introverts 😂). So whether your BFF is across the country or you’re simply maintaining a safe social distance with your neighborhood gang, here’s how to throw a thoughtful baby shower that’s safe, special and guaranteed to leave the mama-to-be feeling all the love. —Lauren

Make it official with a simple evite (we love Paperless Post and Minted – FREE through June 30, 2020!) so everyone can mark their calendars. This is a great place to include instructions for how to join in the fun, too, in case anyone needs to download an app or set up an account.

This isn’t essential if you’re tight on time, but it’s a fun way to make things feel extra festive. Buy packs of platescutlerynapkins, cupsstraws, party hats and party blowers and divvy them up to send one of each to every guest. Other fun extras include tasty treatsmini banners and balloons. Pop the kits in the mail a week or so before the shower, so everyone receives theirs in time for the big event.

Have gifts shipped directly to the guest of honor and time it so they arrive a day or two before the shower. Then make her pinky-promise she’ll wait to open them until the shower—a true exercise in self-restraint. 😅

If you’re looking for ideas, you can’t go wrong with our Bringing Home Baby Bundle. It’s all the softest essentials (wrap, swaddle and sleeper) beautifully packaged in a keepsake wooden box. (Upgrade to the Deluxe version if you’re really trying to impress!) Of course, our signature wrap is a tried-and-true crowd-pleaser, and we’ve got a colorway to suit any mama’s style. (Not sure which she’d love? We’re happy to exchange if you guess wrong 😉 or a gift card is always just right.)

Other favorites include a pair of swaddles—choose one print + one solid to create a perfectly giftable duo (plus take advantage of our two for $40 deal with code SWADDLE). Or a Sleeper + Hat, which makes the sweetest coming home outfit (and is umbilical cord stump-friendly, so they’ll be dressed for success).

If there’s a big sib who will be making a cameo during the party, consider including a little something for them, too, like a Solly Dolly or our Carrying Baby board book. These thoughtful extras always mean so much to both mom and her firstborn.

Whether you choose Google Hangouts, FaceTime, Zoom or another platform, remind everyone it’s party time and gather around your screens together. Everyone can don their party hats with their banners hung in the background and enjoy their festive treats while they watch the mama-to-be open each of her gifts. Feel free to take some time to share sage advice or make predictions on baby’s sex or birthday, and don’t forget to take a screenshot of everyone opening their party poppers. This virtual celebration is one you’ll all remember for years to come!

I personally never considered about it. Moreover, I always thought, that it is useless. After reading this post, I changed my opinion about it.
