“A typical day for our family of six seems to change with the seasons…right now the older two kids are in school and soccer, while our spunky 4 year old, Hayden, has started preschool and dance. So some days are a little crazier than others, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. On a day when the three older kids are at school I really try to cherish those few hours I get alone with baby Houston, as I know how fast time passes us by. I have tried to take in those sweet moments when I’m feeding or bathing him. I don’t ever want to forget his smell, how little his feet and hands are, or the way he smiles after he has eaten.”

A typical day at home is often times a pretty simple one. Reading books before nap time is a ritual we delight in, Theodore always excited to grab books off of the old tin library cart in his room only to run across the floorboards into mama’s bed for snuggles. Alfie is a new part of our ritual, snug on my chest, feeling the rhythm of my breath and words as we bounce along the pages.

An ideal summer day for my little family begins by waking up with the sun to head out for an adventure. Now that I am eight months pregnant with our third babe, I plan to soak up as much activity as possible before our days are spent nestled in at home. So, on a typical day, with sun hats and baskets in tow, we find a new place to explore – like a local fruit farm. I stand with my hand on my belly, watching my sweet girl run from berry bush to cherry tree filling her basket with as many goodies as possible. Looking over at my darling boy, who is wrapped up tightly against my husband and feeding him sweet fruit, is guaranteed to put a smile on my face. Once we are home, I grab my recipe book and bake a cake using our fresh, fruity harvest. Nothing ends a summer day more perfectly than gathering around our table for some after supper blueberry cake … reflecting on the day, feeling thankful, and giggling our way to bedtime.

Mother’s Day is, undoubtedly, a special time around here. We wanted to give a handful of our moms something to remember these babywearing moments forever so we decided to hold a special Solly Baby photoshoot at our studio just for them. But just blindly choosing a dozen mothers to Solly HQ for this photo session proved to be nearly impossible so, in order to choose, we asked our instagram community to submit a story about what babywearing means to them. The stories that poured in were all so unique and beautiful, we knew we had to share them with you.

After our photoshoot we worked with Artifact Uprising to print some of the pictures from the shoot and then we featured a handful of them the days leading up to Mother’s Day with their stories.

Here is the entire collection of our #SollyStories featured mothers. We had such a wonderful day meeting the moms, holding their babies and hearing their babywearing stories. Every single one of our mothers are so very special and it was an absolute honor to be able to celebrate a few of them in such a fun way. Thank you so much to Artifact Uprising for the prints, to all the mothers that entered the contest and a huge thank you to everyone that traveled to Carlsbad to spend the day with us.
