Don’t be afraid of your needs. Even if people don’t understand, don’t stop communicating what you feel that you need. If communication feels too tough, write out your thoughts until you next feel brave/rested enough to share.

Dealing with PPD does NOT make you any less of a mom nor does it mean you don’t desire to be a mom. If you’re reading this and feeling something similar, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I promise someone around you can relate. You are loved. If you don’t feel that right now, at least believe it and the rest will come.

Medication helped turn around a terrifying postpartum experience to one that I LOVED. Many people think you can’t breastfeed with psych meds and that is NOT true. I went from feeling ashamed and inadequate to eventually feeling like a badass mother who can handle anything.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help—but if you can’t, I get it. I couldn’t even pick up the phone to call my doctor, so I had someone else do it.
